Flintoff’s Sinking Ship

I don’t know what your opinion on this is, but I think his actions were like the drunken antics of a selfish teenager.

If you don’t know what happened you must have been under a rock…here’s the bottom line:

It was reported that Flintoff and some of the other England players went out on the beer and to a night club after the loss to New Zealand.

Ok, so that’s unprofessional in itself, especially if there are directives from the management restricting such behaviour…However, it later emerged that Freddie had to be rescued after taking out a ‘pedalo’ and capsizing it (News of the World first reported it, see them for more info)…

This is absolutely disgraced behaviour, he clearly has no respect for himself or the other players. Lets be serious about this, people drown every year after going swimming while under the influence of alcohol, nobody wants to imagine what ‘could’ have happened. He has a wife and two young children to think about for goodness sake…what was he thinking (or not thinking)!

I heard Ian (Beefy) Botham say on commentary during England’s match against Canada yesterday that he…

“didn’t know what all the fuss was about”…

How irresponsible! Players these days are paid very large wages to play a sport which we all love. It’s too right that he has been stripped from his vice-captaincy and dropped from yesterday’s match.

What are your opinions on this?

Ian

All the best,

Even though I can understand hwo someone could se this as ‘Irresopnsable’ I also, and more agree with Botham.

We have to remember that he is human too, and probably just wanted to have some fun. I think good for him, to enjoy himself. When i heard the news, i chuckled and smiled, he is enjoying his life, and we cant hate him for that.

    Hi Guy,

I fully agree the players should be allowed to have some fun, but there is a time and a place for drunken antics and in the middle of the world cup is certainly not it.

We shouldn’t hate him for it of course not, but he needs to grow up and start acting like a representative of the England cricket team, not “The Golden Lion’s (insert pub team name here)” pub XII.

When you play in a team game you let down others by your conduct both on and off the field of play. You are in the public eye in such a high profile competition and when representing your country the least you can do is to act in a responsible manner when the world is your audience. There is plenty of time to have a skinful of drink after the competition, Ian Bothams
remarks are perhaps in keeping with the nature of the beast……..
